The Fauves led by Matisse and Derain, produced great exciting paintings joined by artists such as Vlammick Manguin, Lhote, and several others nicknamed The Fauves by an art critic. The Nabi with Bonnard and Vuillard played their part in creating a vibrant colourful world- The European Expressionists, Marc, Kandinsky, Jawlenski Klee. Klimt Macke amongst great artists inspire , Cubism with Picasso and Braque all contributed to what today is referred to as Modern Art. About the Artist is concerned with the influence most of these painters and art movements have had on Edwin.. With reference to portraits, some examples below demonstrate Edwin's ability to capture facial expressions so essential for a successful portrait. A painting is influenced by the sitter in terms of the sitters personality. A style of painting is dependant on what mood Edwin is in - the result is unpredictable - the subconscious in the artist is always a revelation very often unexplained.
